1) Handgun Carry Permit Renewals—For the speediest transaction bring the permit renewal form you received in the mail. Otherwise, no documentation is needed if the Department of Safety has the permittee’s current handgun permit in their system. When you renew your permit, the new expiration date will be eight (8) years from the date the renewal permit was issued. Renewal cost is $54.00 (includes $4.00 county clerk processing fee). Renewals may also be processed online at dl.safety.tn.gov/_/#1. Lifetime renewals can ONLY be processed at a local Driver License Testing station.
2) Handgun Carry Permit Duplicates—Handgun carry permit duplicates can only be requested at the time of renewal of a handgun carry permit. Duplicates requested during renewal are $5.00 each.
3) Name Change—(Last name ONLY due to marriage or divorce). Name changes can only be requested at the time of renewal. Permittees must bring their original legal document that creates the name change, such as the divorce decree or marriage certificate. The state does not accept copies.
4) Address Change—Address changes can only be requested at the time of renewal. Additional documentation is not required.

a)
Firearms are prohibited on courthouse premises.
b) The clerk’s office is open Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
c) Permit services are subject to a $4.00 fee. Transactions may be paid for with cash, MasterCard, Visa, American Express, or Discover. No checks.
d) Permit duplicates, name changes, and address changes, requested outside of a renewal, must be done at a local Driver License Testing station.
